Description of the organisation

University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli” is a dynamic academic institution established in 1991 and active since November 1st, 1992. With nearly 24,000 students and 16 departments distributed across five territorial areas between Naples and Caserta, the University promotes high-quality education closely integrated with the local context, while fostering research excellence, innovation, and international collaboration.

University’s structure spans Aversa (Engineering, Architecture and Industrial Design), Caserta (Mathematics and Physics, Psychology, Political Science, Environmental, Biological and Pharmaceutical Sciences), Santa Maria Capua Vetere (Law, Humanities and Cultural Heritage), Capua (Economics), and Naples (Medical Sciences and related departments). Many departments are housed in restored historical buildings, including former monasteries and convents.

Particular emphasis is placed on student support, with dedicated orientation services and a job placement centre offering career guidance and continuous assistance. The University is also actively engaged in research projects at national and European level, promoting technology transfer and collaboration with industry.

The Department of Engineering, based in Aversa, plays a key role in research and innovation and is actively involved in the CRYOSTAR project, contributing its expertise to the advancement of project activities.

Role in the CRYOSTAR Project

The University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli”, through its Department of Engineering, acts as the coordinator of the CRYOSTAR project and contributes to both management and technical activities. As coordinator, it is responsible for the overall project management, including coordination of partners, monitoring of progress across work packages, and ensuring compliance with timelines, milestones, and reporting obligations. In addition, the University is directly involved in technical tasks, contributing to the implementation, integration, and validation of project results, as well as facilitating the interface among different technical work packages. It supports the advancement of key project objectives through its scientific and engineering expertise, working in close collaboration with the consortium partners. Furthermore, it supports dissemination and communication activities, promoting the visibility, exploitation, and impact of CRYOSTAR outcomes at European and international level.
